Swedish Photographer Anna Linderstam is on of 28 recently graduated photographers selected for this years freshfacedandwildeyed exhibition at the Photographers Gallery. Linderstam won the New Nordic Photography prize in 2007, and recently graduated from University for the Creative Arts in Farnham.

I got an email from the Gallery the other day saying that the guest list for the private view is full so I’m sure it will be very busy! The Exhibition is on from 14 May – 6 June, so unfortunately I’m gonna miss the exhibition… But the images will be shown online as well when the exhibition starts at the Photographers Gallery’s website.

Karen Knorr Exhibition

Went to a lovely market today with my housemate Holly, on our way back we walked passed a museum where Karen Knorr was exhibiting. Free entrance so we went inside to have a look, it turned out to be the museum where she took most of the photographs in the book “Fables”, which I did not know from the beginning! (all info in french..) The images are taken (most of them) and displayed at Musée Carnavalet, I have only seen the images in book form before so it was a really different experience to see the images in the original location. The lovely museum is housing the history of Paris. (all images taken without flash)

I’m in Paris now! Its very sunny and warm, loving it! I spend my first day visiting some touristy things, such as Notre Dame and The Louvre and got to know the area I live in a bit. Its all within walking distance and Notre Dame is just around the corner! Here are some snapshots from my olympus pocket camera! Took some photos with my Holga, but its gonna take a while before I will get them developed.

Here are some images from the Exhibition in Santa Monica! The exhibition was on from 1 April – 7 April.

2010 Hasselblad Award Winner: Sophie Calle

Posted: March 8th, 2010 | Author: Annett | In: Exhibitions, Inspiration | No Comments »

French artist Sophie Calle from Paris has been selected as the 30th winner of the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography. Most of the exhibition that I wrote about in November will be on display at the Hasselblad Center at the Göteborg Museum of Art.

“For more than three decades, French artist Sophie Calle has been questioning and challenging the relationship between text and photography, private and public personae, truth and fiction, in a groundbreaking, utterly original way. Her conceptually oriented work depicts human vulnerability and examines the interrelationship between identity and intimacy as well as the construction of official history. It evokes narrative, affect and emotion in ways that at the same time touch the viewer deeply and makes her reflect on the possibilities as well as limits of photography. Her contribution to the understanding of the medium of photography has inspired younger generations of artists.”

The prize, consisting of SEK 1,000,000 (approximately EUR 100,000) a diploma and a gold medal will be presented to Sophie Calle on Saturday 30 October 2010 at a ceremony at the Göteborg City Theatre. They have not yet indicated for how long the exhibition is staying at the Hasselblad Centre, but I really hope it stays for a while so I will be able to make it there!
